Introduction

Storytveller is designed to be able to make good short films as easy as possible.

The best place to start is to log in and write anything that comes to mind, presss 'generate video' and simply watch the magic unfold.

    Quick Example

For example, I just thought of the prompt:

humanity discovers the supreme instrument of grand peace

And so that's what I added. What did I get? Well, this...

    Quick Example 2

But say I wanted to be a bit more specific. So I write:

"humanity discovers the supreme instrument of grand peace: a chicken"

    What would I get?

    Quick Example 3

Or say that I really had something in mind, so I write:

"humanity discovers the supreme instrument of grand peace: it was a chicken that floated in space as part of a NASA experiment and acquired divine knowledge from god-like alien beings, then came back to earth armed with otherworldly intelligence. She wears a metal suit."

So what was the result? Well....

It's important to remember that Storytveller's focus is on the story, which means that it should generate at least a decent story whatever you write. It may not be the decent story you want, but it may certainly be the decent story you need.

    What makes a good prompt

Of course, the better the prompt, the better the output. So what does better mean? It means writing the prompt that gets you what you want, which takes a bit of practice. It doesn't necessarily mean the most detailed prompt either - one man's garbage could be Storytveller's good prompt.

    A good example for this?

    Example Prompt

Here is a video made with the prompt:

"such mad absurdity, that even the god of absurdity sniffily wonkles said it's bland, which by that he meant absurd. Absolutely absurd and surreal."

    Example Prompt 2

Or to take it to the extreme, here is a video with the prompt:

    "dsa dsa"

    Example Prompt 3

A good prompt means that whatever idea you have in your head, you are able to bring it to life with storytveller. For example, I had a story where I wanted to reproduce one of my favorite jokes of all time. The prompt was...you know what, I won't spoil it. Click below to see the prompt if you don't value your sanity. Otherwise just watch the video.

    Example Prompt 4

Of course, you may not have a very good idea, and so you can let the AI decide by writing something very vague, like...

    "gripping action"

    Including characters

    Example Prompt

What if I wanted to include people in a video? Well, I made this video about my friends. The prompt was...

A bunch of friends go to a haunted house on the outskirts of Timisoara. Make the story action driven, with unbelievable plot twists and funny scooby do like plot.

The friends are Max (early 30s, short dark hair, white man with blue eyes, stubble beard and moustache, muscular), Narcis (early 30s, short dark hair, white man with brown eyes, clean shaven), Serj (shorter, brunette white man with freckles, short beard, short hair), Cal (short dark hair white man, early 30s, moustache and short beard), Diego (short dark hair white man, short moustache and goatee, 30s), Manoo (short dark hair white man 30s, sturdy build)

Of course, don't expect full likeness when you include character descriptions. But expect some level of likeness across the photos, like in the video above. Storyteller is optimized to extract character descriptions from a prompt and use it across different photos - although we are working to improve this ability.

    What you can't do

    Important Limitations

    • Cannot set specific video lengths
    • No offensive or inappropriate content
    • Character likeness may vary

First surprising thing you can't do: set the length of the video. Asking the AI to generate a good story of X length is like going to a writer and saying "I want a great story that is 300 pages." We give our story generating AI model creative freedom in deciding the length of the story based on its quality, not the other way around.

This also has the good side effect of not making it uploadable on social media sites that optimize for attention, because they can be on the long side - this is great. We want to optimize for quality, not addiction (beyond how addicting the ability to craft good quality stories from whatever you thought of can be).

So if you try to say "give me a 30 second story about ponies," it may not comply, cause it's smart like that.

In fact, it may even get smart with you, and apparently "get confused" about what you ask.

Of course, you are welcome to try anything - we just think that the best option is to let the AI choose the length.

Offensive, etc etc content -> the first obvious thing. Storyteller is able to curse and be naughty, but within limits. You may try to go beyond them, but we urge you not to. It's in our terms of use.

    Final thoughts

Storytveller is a complex AI with many moving parts. Thus, what we explained above are starting points - you may discover hidden corners for Storytveller's abilities, and we are very excited to see what you make with it.
